Among the 83 people rescued were three babies who were revived by medical teams.   "A tragic day in the Mediterranean. The Aquarius was mobilised for a rescue of a deflated boat," the rescue charity SOS Mediterranean said on Twitter. "People were already in the water, 83 people saved and safely on board. All of the dead were women, news agency Ansa reported. They have been publicly identified as Pierangela Tadini, 51, a resident of Vanzago, Giuseppina Pirri, a 39-year-old from Ceusco sul Naviglio, and Ida Maddalena Milanesi, a 62-year-old doctor from Caravaggio.  Around 100 people were injured in total and 46 were still being treated on Thursday afteoon, Ansa said. Four of them were in a serious condition, though their lives were not thought to be in danger. The disaster was the deadliest avalanche in Italy in almost 100 years. On Thursday victims' relatives, local residents and representatives of the authorities and emergency services said prayers, read poems and laid flowers outside the remains of the hotel as part of a commemoration day.   • Two people are feared dead after an avalanche hit a group of off-piste skiers in Val Venosta, Alto Adige. Two others were pulled alive from the snow in the area of Malga San Valentino, close to the Haideralm ski centre, Corriere reported. Alpine rescuers have been able to reach the scene but the use of helicopters has been hindered by heavy snow. The blast is reported to have taken place in the easte part of the city and to have been caused by a cherry bomb, a kind of spherical firework. When police arrived at the scene, two people were injured by the blast, one of whom later died shortly after being taken to hospital. The victim was a 32-year-old man, Repubblica reported, and the other injured person a woman aged 43. The woman has also been transported to hospital for treatment while police are investigating the blast.
