Italian gran drives wrong way along motorway...for 7km

The woman was retuing home – in pouring rain - to Sassari after spending the evening with friends at a pizzeria in Alghero, but took the wrong direction on the SS 291.

Alerted by shocked motorists, traffic police, who were out patrolling the streets for people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, were able to stop her before she reached a stretch of road that has some dangerous bends, Buongiooalghero.it reported.

Fortunately, the woman didn’t cause any accidents, although in Sassari that night police reported 11 people for driving under the influence of alcohol and two for driving under the influence of drugs.
